Design
Designed as the Ultimate Traffic Fighter, this Cooper S is the first U.S. AC Schnitzer conversion done. The body kit, front and rear valances, exhaust system and wheels are all AC Schnitzer items, and were imported directly from the factor in Germany. The custom, red on black leather interor looks and smells great. But this “S” goes as fast as it looks. The ECM has been modified for more horsepower out of the supercharged engine, optional factory paddle shifters make it easy to change gears in a hurry, and the lowered suspension sticks the car like glue.
Installation
The vehicle was ordered from the factory as a “stripped” Cooper S. Paddle shifters and hood striping were the only factory options selected. Once the vehicle was in possession, the interior was completely stripped. While the Al & Ed’s designed leather interior was being stitched up, the AC Schitzer body kit was painted to match the factory red. The car was lowered, the stainless exhaust system was installed and the ECM recalibration was done. After the mechanical add-ons were done, the body kit was applied and the leather interior installed. The factory radio was replaced with a Pioneer AVIC-N3 DVD player with navigation. An XM Radio NavTraffic receiver shows freeway conditions at any time, especially important in Southern California traffic. A custom enclosure and amplifier rack was designed to maintain useable trunk space while still adding awesome sound to the vehicle. It’s fast, quick and tons of fun!
