Ever since the Audi R8 the world has been fascinated with LED day time running lights (DRL). Al & Ed’s Autosound in West Hollywood, CA has sourced these super bright LED lights that can be installed in any car. These are made by the same OEM supplier for Audi in Germany. Each strip offers five super bright 8 watt LED lights.  We custom molded and installed them in the factory grilles.

This Lamborghini LP670-4 SV 202/350 was custom built for Kenwood Electonics

Al & Ed’s Autosound in West Hollywood, CA was once again for the 4th year in a row to chosen to build the CES show car for Kenwood North America. The Consumer Electronics Show held once a year in Las Vegas is as big as it gets. Actually it’s HUGE! This is the largest trade show to come to Las Vegas and electronics manufacturers  and industry dealers from around the world attend. Each year over 150,000  people come to Sin City for the show.

Kenwood Electronics is not only an innovator but also an leader in mobile multi media, car audio, navigation and iPod integration. It is truly an honor for us to work with them and display our talents to the world at CES. 

Since Kenwood is the factory OEM radio in all Lamborghini Murcielago cars it was our goal to provide Kenwood with the best Lamborghini for their booth. The Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 SV is the fastest production Lamborghini to leave the factory in Sant’Agata, Italy . Since only 350 of these Bulls were made this is a very rare super car.

Our inspiration of how to design and build this car truly came from the car itself. Inspired by all the carbon fiber and orange/black colors we decided to continue that theme throughout our build. Starting with the factory stereo which was a Kenwood radio to begin with we upgraded it to their current top of the line model DNX-9960. This radio offer the driver the finest iPod, Ipod Video, navigation and audio controls. It integrated perfectly with the factory installed rear view camera.

The factory component 6.5″ speakers were replaced with Kenwood eXcelon KFC-X1720P high performance speakers. Made with carbon fiber these speakers can handle up to 300 watts of power. The speaker grille rings were painted in Lamborghini pearl orange to match the exterior paint.

Behind the passenger seat we fabricated an enclosure for the Kenwood eXcelon KFC-XW1200F shallow subwoofer. This subwoofer is made of carbon fiber and can handle up to 1,400 watts of power. The enclosure was wrapped in Alcantara suede and carbon fiber to compliment the interior design by Lamborghini. An orange ring around the subwoofer matched the design of the front speakers.

In order to properly display this beautiful car and show off the Kenwood eXcelon amplifiers we fabricated a new front hood. Wrapped in matte carbon fiber to match the engine bay cover the plexi-glass insert allows you to see the equipment while the car poses for pictures without the hood having to be open. Two eXcelon amplifiers totalling over 1,000 watts of power are prominently displayed in the front bonnet. Alcantara suede, carbon fiber and orange trim completed the theme of the car. Inspired by the aircraft theme in the seats 324 individual orange LED lights were installed in the front bonnet.

Al & Eds Autosound, Specialty Car Craft (SCC) , Giovanna Wheels, Focal & Scosche collaborate to create a one of a kind Lamborghini.

When five great companies come together on a project you know right from the start that you will end up with something very special. That is exactly what has come from this incredible one of a kind Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster.

It all started when the Steve the owner of SCC (Specialty Car Craft) in Los Angeles decided to do what no one has done. Paint his Lamborghini in Verde Ithaca with a matte finish. For those of you that have had the pleasure of seeing the color Verde Ithaca in person consider yourself fortunate because you know how special it is. However, if you think that is special maybe you will be fortunate enough one day to see this matte painted version!

Everyone knows that matte paint finishes are extremely popular now. Even new car manufacturers have started to offer it. I am proud to say that no one does it better in the after market than SCC! And just to set the story straight it was SCC who 5 years ago were the first to paint their Rolls Royce Phantom in matte black and started this trend.

Once SCC completed the paint work a complete new black leather, black Alcantara and green stitching interior was installed. The next step was audio. While we have done many audiophile sound systems in Lamborghini’s this opportunity came with special requests from the owner. Steve wanted the system play loud. I mean real loud. So loud that it must be heard and appreciated with a quality tone even when the engine is revving. This was not an easy task because the exhaust system on this car is ridiculous!  If that was not enough of a challenge Steve loves bass and demanded that we figure out a way to install 2 subwoofers in this car without compromising leg room and they MUST be 12″!

Since it is our moto at Al & Eds Autosound to “always make sure to achieve the customers requests” I have to admit that I almost turned down this job. I was concerned that we just wont be able to make Steve happy and I did not want to compromise our friendship over an installation. After meeting with my talented installers and working closely with Focal we decided to accept this challenge. Here is what we installed to make this Lamborghini play cleaner and louder that any other one out there.

Audio Upgrades:

*Alpine AM/FM/CD/iPod player in the dash

* Focal 165KRX3 component 3-way speakers in the doors

* Extra pair of Focal Power series tweeters

* Two shallow 12″ woofers. One in the passenger firewall area and one behind the passenger seat. Both subs were installed in custom fiberglass enclosures

* 3 Focal amplifiers totalling over 2,000 watts of clean amplifier power

* Rockford Fosgate 3sixty.2 EQ/Processor offering 153 bands of equalization, time alignment, sub woofer control knob and the ability to perfectly tune this sound system

* Scosche sponsored this project by providing us their finest speaker, power and ground wire plus RCA interconnects. 

The doors were customized to fit the 3-way component plus the extra tweeters while maintaining a stock appearance. The enclosure in the passenger foot well/fire wall area was covered in carpet to be completely stealth while the enclosure behind the seat was upholstered to match the new interior design. Under the front bonnet the Focalamplifiers were custom installed and green LED lights were used to illuminate the frosted plexiglass edging.

Wheels & Tires:

Nobody makes better wheels for cars, trucks and SUVs than Giovanna. They have been doing it right for many years and their styles are always setting new trends. This Lamborghini needed something special and we all agreed that 20″ front and rear was the way to go. Giovanna GFG series 3-piece forged California wheels were built and finished in gloss black. Pirelli tires were used with a 235/30/20 in the front and 345/25/20 in the rear. These wheels and tires is what truly made this car.

Motorized Cigar holder?

At Al & Eds Autosound in West Hollywood, CA we like to always do something special and surprise our clients. Steve the owner of this Lamborghini is an avid cigar smoker and yes he smokes in his Lambo. We decided to customize his center console and create a motorized cigar holder. When you open the center console you will notice a S.T. Dupont lighter, cigar cutter and a leather wrapped cigar holder that because of how it is flushed into the center console you cannot get your cigars out of. We designed this so that when you remove the lighter is activates the motorization to lift the cigar holder and allow you to choose your cigar. When you put the lighter back in its place it activates the motorization to put the cigar holder back in its place.

What started off as a limited edition car ended up as 1/1 in the world!

First off I would like to thank the following people that were behind the scenes and really helped make this project happen.

When the owner of this Lamborghini LP650-4 car # 2/50 and Beverly Hills Lamborghini approached me with the concept of transforming a limited edition car to make it the only one in the world I could not resist this once in a lifetime opportunity.

What started off as a limited edition car ended up as 1/1 in the world! All the LP650-4 cars came one way from Lamborghini with Grigio Telesto grey exterior paint and Arancio Leonis orange highlights. The owner of this car wanted the car matte black with gloss black highlights. This is how the transformation to become an AE Edition car began.

The car was transported by NTT (Norwalk Tow & Transport) to Avio Coach Craft to have the paint work done. The car was striped down to the metal and the complete interior was removed so that a proper complete paint make over could be achieved.

After the paint was completed the car was transported again by NTT to Giovanna Wheels to have the custom made 19” GFG 3-piece forged Narkid wheels and Pirelli tires installed. The wheels were painted with a gloss black outer lip, matte black center and orange highlights to perfectly match the brake calipers. Pirelli P-Zero 245/30/19 front and 355/25/19 rear tires were used to insure a safe and overall perfect fitment for this car.

From Giovanna NTT transported the car to Al & Eds Autosound in West Hollywood, CA for a custom one of a kind audiophile sound system. The factory speakers were replaced with Focal Utopia KIT 7 component 3-way speakers. These are the most expensive and best sounding speakers in the world! Keeping with the orange interior highlight theme we did not use the provided Focal speaker grilles but rather created new ones from orange carbon fiber and plexi glass.

Behind the passenger seat we fabricated a subwoofer enclosure using orange carbon fiber to accommodate a JL Audio 10W6 series subwoofer. All the speakers are powered by two Alpine PDX series amplifiers totaling over 1600 watts of power. These amplifiers were installed in the front bonnet of the car. Gloss black and orange material along with orange carbon fiber were used to completely redesign the area. Activated by a switch are orange LED lights that illuminate and really show off the install. To properly tune the system we also installed a Rockford Fosgate 3sixty.2 EQ processor that offered us 153 bands of equalization, time alignment all controlled by a laptop that connects via Blue Tooth. Monster Cable and Stinger wiring were used throughout the system.

To protect the owner from speeding tickets we installed an Escort SRX “Ticket Avoidance System”. The main controller was installed in the center console, the two front laser defusers we custom molded into the front grilles while the rear laser defuser was installed in the rear license plate frame. The visual indicator LED was installed on the steering column.

The car made its world debut in the Giovanna booth at the 2010 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Now it is your turn to enjoy this one of a kind AE Edition Lamborghini LP650-4 Black Edition 1/1.

Custom built for Lamborghini Beverly Hills and Kenwood Electronics as a 2010 CES show car

Towards the end of 2009 Kenwood Electronics approached Al & Eds Autosound in West Hollywood California to build the ultimate Lamborghini for their booth at the 2010 CES (Consumer Electronics Show) Show in Las Vegas. We imediately contacted our friends at Beverly Hills Lamborghini and asked them to provide us the car. What they gave us is probably the only 2009 Monterey Blue LP640 Roadster with a custom interior in the world! Here is how we customized this amazing car…

Here is what Al & Eds Autosound in West Hollywood CA. did to create this custom AE Edition

Even though Kenwood provides the touch screen radio and navigation system for all Lamborghini Murcielago cars we made sure to install the newest top of the line DNX-9140 unit. This interfaced perfectly with the factory installed back up camera.

The factory speakers were replaced with Kenwood Excelon top of the line KFC-X1720P 6.5″ and tweeter components.  Instead of using the provided speaker grilles we custom made new grilles using blue carbon fiber and plexi glass.

Behind the passenger seat we molded using blue carbon fiber a subwoofer enclosure for the Kenwood Excelon KFC-XW1000F carbon fiber 10″ shallow subwoofer. The customize the fascia of the enclosure we used matching grey Alcantara suede and made sure to give it the traditional Lamborghini Q-Citura diamond quilt.

Under the front bonnet we were inspired by the exiting theme of the car and made sure to use blue carbon fiber, grey Alcantara and gloss black elements to show off the Kenwood Excellon amplifiers totalling over 2,700 watts of power. Blue LED lights were installed and are activated by a hidden switch to illuminate the display.

19″ GFG forged 3-piece Narkid wheels by Giovanna were custom painted with a gloss black outer lip, matte black center and monterey blue highlights we installed on the car. Pirelli 245/30/19 front and 355/25/19 rear tires were used to insure a safe and proper wheel and tire fitment. 

This is what makes this Lamborghini LP640 Roadster an AE Edition.

This one of a kind Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera was customized buy Al & Eds Autosound in West Hollywood,Ca. Lamborghini did an amazing job on making this car totally different from an ordinary Gallardo. Al & Eds Autosound in West Hollywood took it one step further.

First we painted the roof of the car car gloss black. This totally changed and enhanced the overall exterior appearance of the car. Next we painted the factory “light weight” wheels gloss black as well. The charcoal grey from the factory just did not compliment the yellow and black overall theme. In order to maintain a factory look the three brand logos that were shown on the outer edge of the wheels were recreated in yellow.

To protect the exterior of the car we installed clear bra protective paint/body film on the bumper, full hood, full fenders, headlights and side skirts. Then we applied CilaJet, a paint protective sealant.

Next we installed the Escort “Ticket Avoidance System” The controller is installed  in the glove box and the front laser defusers are custom molded into the front grilles. The rear laser defuser installs in the same holes as the top license plate screws. This system will warn the driver of upcoming X,K & KA bands of police radar while “defusing” laser guns.  

The factory radio (made by Audi) was removed and replaced with the same Kenwood DNX series touch screen radio used in the LP640 Murcielago. This DNX7140 offers am/fm/Sirus or XM satellite radio/cd/dvd/iPod/iPod video & navigation all touch screen. The radio was custom molded into the dash and the trim panel was made from carbon fiber.

Rockford Fosgate 3sixty.2 processor with 153 bands of equalization, time alignment and an independent subwoofer control knob. After we install this device and hook it up to our laptop via bluetooth we can control and tune each speaker in the car independently.

Focal 165KRX2 two way component speakers we installed in the doors behind the factory grilles.

A custom subwoofer enclosure was built in the passenger foot well area for a 10″ shallow subwoofer. No leg room was compromised.

To power the system we used a JL Audio 600/4HD amplifier totalling over 600 watts.

A custom cover for the amplifier and an illuminated Lamborghini crest logo make the front bonnet area look so much better.

 Customized Lamborghini LP640 Versace Edition 12/20 by Al & Eds Autosound in West Hollywood,Ca

Having the opportunity to work on a Lamborghini LP640 is incredible however working on a limited edition Versace car is once in a life time! 

The first thing we did was integrate and mold a rear view camera into the rear mesh area so when the customer is backing out of his drive way he can have a clear view of the back.

The were improved on the audio system. The factory speakers were replaced with Focal K2 Power series 6.5″ and tweeter component speakers. To complement these speakers a JL Audio 10″ W3 series woofer was installed in a custom fiberglass enclosure behind the passenger seat. No legroom was compromised at all.

To power the system two Alpine PDX series digital amplifiers were used totalling over 1200 watts of power. These amplifiers were installed under the front bonnet. We then continued with the black and white theme with leather to compliment the car and show off the amplifiers.

Custom made skid plates were installed underneath the front bumper to protect it from low slopping driveways.

Clear Bra protective film was installed on the front bumper, full hood, full fenders, rocker panels, mirrors and rear splash guards.

After we finished assisting our customer in brokering the purchase of this car he did not even take delivery of it but rather handed us the keys to do what we do best. “Make the stereo sound as good as the car looks, add some additional performance, change the wheels and surprise me with a few other items” was the order given.

19″ GFG Forged 3-piece Narkid wheels were chosen and custom painted with a gloss black lip, matte black centers and a little pearl white to set it all off were wrapped in Pirelli tires.

A black vinyl stripe was added to the side of the car to change the look.

Premier rear wing made of carbon fiber completed the rear image of the car.

Larini sport exhaust system with sport cats and dual tips made this car sound like it should and added performance while reducing unsprung weight.

Installed in the center console are the controls for the Escort SRX  “ticket avoidance” system. This system was installed to warn the driver of upcoming X,K & KA bands of police radar while “defusing” laser guns.  Notice how we custom molded the front laser defusers into each of the front mesh grilles.

Focal Utopia Be Kit No.7  three way component speakers we installed in the doors. These are the best and most expensive car audio speakers in the industry! Custom made carbon fiber speaker grilles were created because the stock grilles just don’t look cool enough!

A custom subwoofer enclosure was built behind the passenger seatfor a 10″ JL Audio 10W6 subwoofer. No space for the passenger was compromised. The enclosure was then covered in real carbon fiber to complement the front speakers.

To power the system two Focal amplifiers were used totalling over 1500 watts of power. They were customer installed under the front bonnet with carbon fiber to complete the theme of the vehicle.

Custom hand carved Lamborghini plush floor mats were made.

Custom made skid plates were installed underneath the front bumper to protect it from low slopping driveways.

The front, rear and tail lights were smoked.

Clear Bra protective film was installed on the front bumper, full hood, full fenders, rocker panels, mirrors and rear splash guards.

All monochromatic gunmetal grey. The factory Callisto wheels were custom painted to match the car. The front and rear side markers along with the tail lights were smoked gun metal black as well.

The car was then completely protected in Clear Bra film. Yes, the WHOLE car!

To protect the driver from getting speeding tickets K40 radar detector along with front an rear laser defusers were installed.

The factory radio was removed and an Alpine motorized 7″ flip out touch screen was installed in the dash. This new radio controls am,fm,cd,DVD, iPod, iPod video,navigation and a back up camera that was custom flushed into the rear license plate.

Focal 6.5″ K2 Power series speakers were installed in the front doors. A JL Audio 10′ W6 series subwoofer was insalled in a custom fabricated enclosure behind the seats. The enclosure was made from fiberglass and was then painted to match exterior paint of the car.

Two Alpine PDX series digital amplifiers were installed under the front bonnet totalling over 1600 watts of power. A custom frame using Lamborghini leather finished it all off.
