A customer recently came in with a 1970 Mercedes Benz diesel. He inherited it from his grandmother who kept it in perfect condition. Recently some thieves stole the stock two knob Becker radio. I suggested we replace the radio with a storage compartment, add two 3.5″ Kenwood speakers in place of the stock 4″x10″ and a mini 2x50x amplifier for an iPod. Let’s face it with all the music content we have on ours phones and apps from pandora to Sirius & xm satellite radio there’s no longer a need for an in dash car stereo. Especially in a classic this where you would want to keep electronics to a minimum. It sounded awesome.
